The Arlington Gay & Lesbian Alliance (AGLA) is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for the LGBT community in Arlington, Virginia. We are an inclusive organization open to all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender individuals, and our straight allies. We provide social activities for our members, friends, and supporters to get to know each other, build relationships with our elected officials and educate our members on political awareness, and work with business, civic groups, and community leaders in our community service efforts.
Cheryl Spector, Longtime AGLA member, 2007 Arlington Equality Award recipientThe Alliance has long been a participant in Capital Pride, but this year we are taking that to a whole new level. The board of directors has voted to become a Community Partner this year. By doing so we are fulfilling our mission and helping to produce an event of great importance to our community.
Capital Pride is much more than a block party or parade of fabulous entries. Capital Pride is an opportunity for the entire LGBT community to come together and celebrate the progress made to date, and affirm our commitment to one another, to ensure that we will not stop until equality for all is a reality for every American.
This is a cause that Cheryl Spector worked tirelessly for, and the Capital Pride committee is honoring her this year by naming her one of the Honorary Grand Marshalls of the parade. So let's do what Cheryl would do - celebrate our history, focus on our vision for the future, while always keeping mind of our legacy.
Become a member of AGLA, or renew your membership, and help us continue to make Arlington a great place to live. (Membership is tax deductible!)
