Senator Patricia Ticer and AGLA board member Mike Rankin pose at one of the AGLA tables at EV's third annual Commonwealth Dinner.

AGLA members Liane Rozzell and Linda Kaufman enjoyed a night out without their children at EV's April 2006 Commonwealth Dinner.
Equality Virginia (EV) Executive Director Dyana Mason wrote: "I am honored to inform you that the Arlington Gay and Lesbian Alliance (AGLA) was selected by the Board of Directors of Equality Virginia to receive the 2006 Equality Community Award. The award is given annually to one person or organization that has worked to advance the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or HIV positive Virginians."
She added, "Equality Virginia is delighted to be able to recognize AGLA's contributions... and to help AGLA celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2006!"
AGLA President Kris McLaughlin said: "From my perspective, this award is a great honor for all AGLA members. Our members are apolitical, Republicans, and Democrats. Many serve on community boards, and several are elected officials. Some are religious and spiritual leaders, veterans or active service members, artists or executives. I believe that most AGLA members appreciate the work that EV does across the Commonwealth that is beyond AGLA's scope and reach. We, in turn, appreciate EV's recognition of AGLA's efforts in Arlington County."
The theme of this year's dinner was "The Courage of Our Convictions." McLaughlin added: "The event served as an opportunity for us to reflect on our founders' courage and conviction when they formed AGLA in 1981."
